Speaking on ANC's "Talkback," Robert Swift, the lead counsel for Martial Law victims, said they have recovered some $22 million of Marcos wealth in the U.S. courts.
He, however, said they are still hoping to recover more. He added, the recovered amount was distributed to some 7,500 victims of torture and relatives of summary executions and enforced disappearances during the Marcos dictatorship.
Swift also reiterated that it was the Martial Law victims who pursued the so-called Arelma assets in the U.S., contrary to a testimony given by former Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) chairman Andy Bautista.
Originally amounting to $2 million, the Arelma funds represented assets of the late dictator in New York in 1972 under the name of Arelma Foundation. - The World Tonight, ANC, September 19, 2016
